Genoa Black is delighted to confirm the appointment of two new positions in the business, Claire Brownlie as Finance Manager and Hazel Watson as Middle-Weight Designer.

Genoa Black saw another year of rapid growth in 2020, continuing to deliver strategic marketing advice and services across a range of sectors including education, food and drink, energy, tourism, leisure, science and engineering.

Entering its 8th year, Genoa Black has seen an average growth in turnover year on year by 18.3% and average net profit growth year on year by 23%. The business has achieved 7.2% growth turnover in 2020, as compared to 2019, and with this growth comes further opportunity for its team to progress and develop.

Claire Brownlie brings strong financial credentials and a variety of industry experience to the Genoa Black business team as Finance Manager. With experience in management, administration, data management, finance and client servicing from corporate to SME level, she has held senior positions previously at Applied Engineering Design, Bloxx Ltd, Psymetrix and Castle Computer Services.

Joining our creative studio team, our new Middle Weight Designer Hazel Watson has over ten years of experience including work for global brands such as Adidas, Virgin, The Commonwealth Games and Royal Caribbean. Hazel joins Genoa Black following a career which has built a global experience base working as a graphic designer in Spain, Australia and the UK. In addition to graphic design, her skills also include UI/UX, motion graphics and coding, adding further value to Genoa Black’s clients, at a critical time for strategic design and marketing support for businesses in the UK.

Claire Brownlie said of her appointment,

“Being offered a position at Genoa Black in 2020 has given me a great insight as to the culture here. We’re all working remotely yet still feel that we’re connected and on the same page. Everyone has been incredibly supportive so far, helping me to get settled and get a handle on the business. 2021 offers huge opportunities for Genoa Black and I’m looking forward to being a part of the excitement!”

Hazel Watson added,

“I was delighted to join Genoa Black, it’s such an exciting time to be part of this company. So far, I have been lucky enough to work on a diverse mix of projects for many different clients, providing the opportunity to showcase my skills. The team are amazing. It’s fairly unusual to start a new job during a global pandemic and work from home full-time but everyone has made a real effort to stay connected, offer support and inspiration, which I’m really grateful for!”

Gaynor Duthie, Deputy Managing Partner, summed up the good news,

“Claire & Hazel’s appointments come at an exciting time for the Genoa Black team and a time of significant growth for Genoa Black. 2020 has been a record year for the business with 27 new client wins. Having Hazel on board allows us to expand our in-house creative expertise and skills offering for our client portfolio, whereas Claire’s role will generate stronger financial governance, more robust systems and streamlined internal business processes as we continue to look to further growth and success in 2021.”

Genoa Black confirms its successful year with a growing client portfolio which has grown since March 2020 to include Danfoss, Barum & Dewar, The Palace Hotel, Developing the Young Workforce, Grampian Fasteners, Apollo, Provan Sports, Clean Water Wave and Aqualution.
